NB A student whose study right is still valid but about to expire, should apply for an extension of study time.

Students whose study right have expired, can apply for regranting of study entitlement from the degree director. Applying for regranting of study entitlement and receiving an approved decision is not automatic.

NB A student who has resigned of their own accord, should apply through the student selection, in the joint application or through the open path.

Forfeiture of the right to study:

Students who have not enrolled and registered in the manner specified in section 29, or who fail to complete their studies within the time period specified in section 30 or within the extended period of time specified in section 30a, as well as students who have not been granted an extension to their studies, forfeit their right to study. Should the student later wish to start or resume their studies, they must reapply to the university of applied sciences for admission. The application can be made without participation in the student admissions procedure referred to in section 28. (Universities of Applied Sciences Act 932/2014, section 32 (Amendment 325/2015).)

Study right expired due to failure to register as attending or non-attending:

A student who has lost their study entitlement due to failure to register as attending or non-attending may apply to the degree director to have their study entitlement regranted without participating in the student admissions procedure (Act 325/2015, section 32). The application is subject to a handling fee of 50 euros in accordance with the Decree (1440/2014, section 3). (Haaga-Helia degree regulations 11§.)

Study right expired due to not finishing the degree:

According to section 32 of the Universities of Applied Sciences Act (932/2014), students who have started their studies on 1 August 2015 or thereafter and who have not finished their degree during the timeframe of their study entitlement or during a discretionary extension of the study entitlement may apply to have their study entitlement regranted without taking part in the student admissions procedure. The decision on regranting the study entitlement is made by the degree director. The student may be asked to provide further clarifications to support the decision on regranting the study entitlement. The study entitlement may be regranted for a maximum of two semesters. A student whose study entitlement has been regranted does not have right to register as non-attending nor the possibility to apply for discretionary extension of the study entitlement. The decision on regranting the study entitlement is made by the degree director.(Haaga-Helia degree regulations 24 §.)

NB Students whose study right has begun before 1 August 2015 apply through the student selection, in the joint application or through the open path. Study right expired due to not paying the tuition fee

A student who has lost their study entitlement due to not paying the tuition fee by the informed deadline may apply to the degree director to have their study entitlement regranted. Please follow the instructions below.

Important instructions for filling in the application:

According to the legislation (1440/2014) a 50 euro handling fee is applicable. NB your application will not be dealt with if you haven't paid the handling fee or you haven't done the identification. The handling fee is non-refundable. You will receive instruction for the identification by email after filling in the form.

The application form must be submitted on 17 May at the latest if the student wants the study time to start from the beginning of the autumn term. NB The application will close after this and open again on the first business day of the autumn term (1.8.–31.12.).

The application form must be submitted on 3 November at the latest if the student wants the study time to start from the beginning of the spring term. NB The application will close after this and open again on the first business day of the spring term (1.1.–31.7.).

The applications are processed in four weeks, taking public holidays into account.

NB If you are obliged to pay the tuition fee, please attach a document to your application that shows us you are exempted from paying tuition fees or attach a receipt of the payment to the application. 

When your application has been processed, the decision will be delivered electronically to the email address you have informed on the application.

An applicant may apply to the Collegiate body of the UAS in writing for rectification of a decision concerning admission within 14 days of receiving the notification of the decision. (Universities of Applied Sciences Act 932/2014)
