NB A student whose study right is still valid but about to expire, should apply for an extension of study time.
Students whose study right have expired, can apply for regranting of study entitlement from the degree director or the competence area director of teacher education. Regranting of study entitlement is based on the consideration of the degree director and an approved decision is not automatic.
NB A student who has resigned of their own accord, should apply through the student selection, in the joint application or through the open path. In teacher education: through the application process to vocational teacher education institutions.
Study right expired due to failure to register as attending or non-attending:
A student who has lost their study entitlement due to failure to register as attending or non-attending may apply to the degree director to have their study entitlement regranted without participating in the student admissions procedure (Act 325/2015, section 32). The application is subject to a handling fee of 50 euros in accordance with the Decree (1440/2014, section 3). (Haaga-Helia degree regulations 3.3.)
Study right expired due to not finishing the degree:
A student who commenced their studies after 1 August 2015 and has not completed their degree/studies within the standard period of study or the discretionary extension period may, according to section 32 of the Universities of Applied Sciences Act (932/2014), apply to the university of applied sciences for the right to be readmitted as a student without having to participate in the student selection process. This entitlement may only be granted once. The student may be asked to provide further clarifications to support the decision on regranting the study entitlement. The decision to reinstate a student’s right to study is made by the degree director or the competence area director of teacher education. The right to study will be granted again for a maximum of two terms. Students who have been granted a renewed right to study are not entitled to any absence or an extension. Studies started before 1 August 2015
Students whose study right has begun before 1 August 2015 apply through the student selection, in the joint application or through the open path. Study right expired due to not paying the tuition fee
A student who has lost their study entitlement due to not paying the tuition fee by the informed deadline may apply to the degree director to have their study entitlement regranted. Please follow the instructions below.
Important instructions for filling in the application:
According to the legislation (1440/2014) a 50 euro handling fee is applicable. NB your application will not be dealt with if you haven't paid the handling fee or you haven't done the identification. The handling fee is non-refundable. You will receive instruction for the identification by email after filling in the form.
The application form must be submitted on 24 May at the latest if the student wants the study time to start from the beginning of the autumn term. NB The application will close after this and open again on the first business day of the autumn term (1.8.–31.12.).
The application form must be submitted on 24 November at the latest if the student wants the study time to start from the beginning of the spring term. NB The application will close after this and open again on the first business day of the spring term (1.1.–31.7.).
The applications are processed in four weeks, taking public holidays into account.
NB If you are obliged to pay the tuition fee, please attach a document to your application that shows us you are exempted from paying tuition fees or attach a receipt of the payment to the application.
When your application has been processed, the decision will be delivered electronically to the email address you have informed on the application.
Note! If your study entitlement is regranted, your obligation to pay tuition fees will be reviewed again.
An applicant may apply to the Collegiate body of the UAS in writing for rectification of a decision concerning admission within 14 days of receiving the notification of the decision. (Universities of Applied Sciences Act 932/2014)
